Switching

Would it be hard to switch my 85f150 from a carb motor to a fuel injected one?

You'd have to put on a new lower intake plenum and an upper intake plenum. As well as fuel injectors and new wiring harness for the computer to control the flow of air and fuel. It can be a PITA.

Plus the fuel tank pumps/return lines, etc.

If you really want fuel injection the easy way, go to the Holley site or you can get good deals on them used on ebay, and get a Holley projection system that will bolt on the manifold you already have. It just takes a screwdriver to make the adjustments on the computer, and it comes with a inline fuel pump you add on.

IMHO modern, multiport fuel injection is prolly better than a carb; the computer controls the
fuel & air supply based on the need & environment/ operating conditions. But, when it fails,
it can be a PITA & expensive todiagnose & repair.

A carb, OTOH, is much simpler; the technology has been in use for around 100 years and
is proven and works very well.

So, they each have their advantages, you have to decide what is important to you.

depends on what you want. personally i like carb. its simpler to work on. you dont need a computer run program to work on it. plus more space to work on the engine while its still in the engine bay. now fuel injection is better for starting up on cold mornings. its also better fuel mileage. it all depends on what you like. Easy to work on. Or Fuel mileage and ease of start when cold.

Also, EFI adapts to the environment for you, no rejetting of carbs necessary when you
move to a high-altitude environment and/or go driving up in the mountains at 11,000+
feet. (I live in Colorado, a feature like is important to me (although I have a carb'd truck
but an EFI car).)
