A while back I installed a tekonsha voyager. for brake light sense they want you to hook into a steering column wire - anyone still have their instructions and can tell me the location/color of this wire? (90 F series)
Im using a drawtite transplanted from another truck and I tried using BOO, but it's low impedance and it's not working well.
using the factory TT harness which has every connection except brake light sense.
I would get a test light out and check the wires coming form the brake light switch itself. Tap into the wire that is hot when brake applied. You will also want to install a circuit breaker at the power feed (constant from the battery) and on the blue wire for the brakes.
I have always done this set up on this series Ford.
Went to a friend who is an RV dealer and we peeked inside the box of a new Voyager....we thought it would be no joy since I got my original voyager from his in 95 - 13 years ago, but aha....in a box on the wiring directions - 89-91 Ford E and F series you must tap into a light green wire in the u shaped connector on the steering column.
I thought it might be light green - but my memory.
Dont ask me why, those 3 years have something in the harness that makes the cold side of BOO a bad choice.
