downpipe today

got the tymar two-piece DP and cat delete pipe. sprayed penetrating oil on all the threads last night and i think i might head out and try to knock the project out today. i'd read everything i can find and Dale's instruction sheet is great. that being said, if anyone has any last minute bits of advice- let me know!

oh, and happy new year!

what he said. porta powers are nice but i have found that a digging bar actually gives you a very nice rounded tunnel for the pipe to fit in.....

The previous owner of my truck said he took the passenger side cab mounts loose, jacked up the cab and the 3" downpipe slid right into place, no beating or bending neccessary.

well i am done. thanks for the last minute advice! job wasn't too bad- 4 hours. the pipe was hard to cut out. the top elbow had to come out in chunks and then it slid right out. took a fair bit of mutilation to get the seam bent up enough to get the new pipe in there. i wish i had borrowed the porta-power from work, but after some work from above and below, a crowbar did the trick. fitting the race pipe and lower section of DP was super easy.

how close to the heat shielding is too close? i wasn't able to make a very big gap between the DP and shielding.

only bummer is that the flange between the EBPV and DP is leaking a little (it was leaking with the old pipe as well). i want to replace the stock v-band clamp with a more heavy duty one that i can really hog down on. any suggestions on that, or ways to get a better seal in there?

overall the truck does have more giddy-up, idles with a nice low growl, and the turbo whistle is much louder.

as long as it doesnt touch the firewall you are fine, its a very tight squeeze in there
