New here.

Hey everyone.

A little over 3 years ago I was insane enough to move to Phoenix.

South Phoenix, I don't live in the ghetto, but I can see it from there.

On 1/19 I bought a 1978 F150 Supercab 4x4 long bed.

Forgive me for not being complely up to speed on everything, but fortunately since I got rid of my '79 Mustang back in 92 I haven't had to work on a car. Keeping that thing running was certainly a learning experience!

I would love to meet anyone and everyone in the area. Compare vehicles and trade stories. I have more questions and plans than I know what to do with. This truck needs lots of little things and hopefully no BIG things, yet.

Towards the end of the month I plan on starting to dig into it and see what I have gotten myself into.

What I know so far is its a 400 looks to still be completely stock. Needs a ton of "little parts" replaced. But thats where the big money really is... the details.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to meeting people and getting "schooled" for not knowing more about my truck!

Mike...

Welcome, Mike! That is a beautiful area. I thought about buying there 5-6 years ago, but then work took me away from the Valley again. I came back this past July (and brought a wife, too) and bought in Gilbert to keep her drive to work short. It's nice, but nothing is like having South Mountain in your backyard.

Bill: the painting went well. A few drops slid under the tape since I didn't have the caulking, but overall it turned out well. Now I have to decide: get the angled brush you told me about or buy crown moulding.

"After" pictures coming soon. I just need a little more sun.

Hi Michael, Welcome to the club! i have never used the frogtape way too expensive whe you buy tape by the case and then just throw it away.

Glad the painting is going good for ya Rob! patience wins the race when it comes to painting, guess thats why i'm good at it.

Restraining the urge to get on a "non truck" topic - I'm very into wood working and working on my house and yard too.

Are there any upcoming events planned? I'm still playing catchup with all the messages and doing some research.

It's Ok, Mike. Here in the regional forums, for the most part, anything goes!! If you are posting in the tech forums, it's a little more important to stay on topic.

Welcome to FTE!

I have some stuff going on for the next few weeks - big reason i got a truck/this truck in the first place.

So AFTER i get back from that, I plan on giving the truck a good scrubbing down to see what im dealing with.

I have a feeling im going to be replacing more "wear and tear" parts than keeping.

I have to keep stopping myself from shopping for cosmetic items until I know the mechanical parts are in good working order.

And as sad as it sounds, I need someone to teach me to use my 4x4 properly!

You know how hard it is to trace a leak when everything is painted flat black?!? (and covered in grease and dirt!)

Sounds like you need a crap load of simple green to clean everything....

Your right, we need to have a little G2G before it gets too damn hot here.
