No gauges

Hey all. I just had a 04 f350 cc, 4wheel drive 5.4 eng, in the shop. It was one of our fleet trucks. It was wrote up for non working radio, the am-fm factory one, and the inside dome light would not work. I started up the truck and drove it in the shop, and noticed it had no gauges as well. I noted it started slower than normal, but its been setting a week in the cold. Well i figured a blown fuse, checked all the fuses, swapped the relays, no help. Did a battery test which showed a battery going to the bad, just not all the way there yet. Replaced the battery, the inside lights worked, the radio worked all is well. I have see something like this with a dead battery, or one that has a cell fails. This battery was still working, but a diminished rate. Just a little info for you all to roll around in the ol-head. Happy new year to all

We have had similar problems posted with the newer trucks and SUV's. It seems the electronics in the newer vehicles are very voltage sensitive, and if the voltage is just a little bit low, the guages will go wacky and stuff in the dash board will randomly work/not work. Your case was a bad battery, and some of the other cases was a intermittent problem with the alternator.

Thanks for posting.
