Sway Bar Retrofit

My '74 F250 4x4 needs a little help hauling around a fairly high, heavy slide-in camper. I've already installed air springs and Rancho 9000 shocks, but think I'd like to try sway bars for the rear. Has anyone done this retrofit, and if so, where did you get the bar? The mfrs that I have found don't have anything for my vintage and model. Thanks, Steve W

Sway Bar Retrofit

I pulled a swaybar from a 79 1 ton 2wd. It mounts to the rear end with u-bolts, and I made some brackets to bolt to the frame out of 2x2 angle. I bolted the angle to the frame, then bolted the swaybar to the angle. It works well.

Thanks for that reassuring info . Sounds like the sway bar from about anything will fit, just need to work on the linkage to the frame!?! Another thing to put on the shopping list.
Thanks again, Steve W

As far as the brackets to the frame, I used a piece of 2x2x4 algle and drilled 2 holes in one side and 1 in the other. There should be holes in the frame for a factory sway bar, I just drilled the angle to match. It was easy. Had it installed in about 20 minutes.
