What transmission and transfercase was offered with the 86 F350 4wd with the 6.9L turbo diesel motor?

A c6 automatic or a t19 4 speed manual. Both of these would be mated to a New Process 208 or a Warner 1345 transfer case.

P.S. You mentioned a 6.9 "turbo" engine, but Ford never offered a turbo on that engine. It was added by a previous owner.

 

Which one had a button on it to allow shifting into "more" gears? Sort of like an overdrive button..

Sorry trying to figure out what my buddy has in his truck and I can't get over there until the weekend.

 

None of them had a "button" that I am aware of. He might have some sort of aftermarket overdrive unit added to his truck.

 

Make sense.. Now I wish he would answer his phone.
