Well, it's been one of those holidays. First, I only got a day and a half off for the entire season. Second, I, someone else in the house was sick for that time plus most of the rest of the season. Third, had a flat on a new (read, 1 week old) tire on the 24th and couldn't get in until yesterday to get it patched. Fourth, I hit a deer with the Corolla on the 26th on the way back from work. Had to wait until yesterday to report it to MPIC. Finally got that sorted out with an appointment on Jan. 9th to see the insurance adjuster. Not too bad, just a headlight fender and bumper. Still easily drivable. And finally, last night on the way home from work, hit another deer and totalled the Corolla. Going to call in and report that one today and get her towed away. Happy Holidays!!!! Actually, in spite of it all, it's been a pretty good holiday season. Happy new year. Oh yeah, still at work. Today's my 13th anniversary. At least that's working out well.
Thanks guys! Yup, sense of humor still works. Not sure about those deer whistles, but at this point it couldn't hurt. I finally had a car that I liked and trusted. Maybe I shoulda kept driving beaters! The last one was a pretty good show too. After it took out the front end it landed on the roof and left a BIG dent there too. I have one more call to make and then we'll see. I'll keep you posted on the insurance stuff.

Great that you're fine.
One car you might consider replacing it with, given that you liked the Corolla, is the Corolla station wagon version....which is the Toyota Matrix or the Pontiac Vibe...both the same car.
My wife has a 2007 Vibe, very happy with it, already 35,000 + kms on it, hardly anything wrong with it. Snowtires (Goodyears) made a great difference for winter snow and ice.
You can also get AWD with these cars, slap some snowtires on it and you can probably go....where no man has gone before...at least on snow covered roads, etc.
We looked at the Vibe and the Matrix...the Vibe was cheaper, had a roof rack and had 60,000 km more warranty....no decision.
There are some nice small Fords out there, that have got some great ratings and the best truck deal has to be the 2008 + 2009 Ford Ranger. I think a Ford dealer in Selkirk , Mb. was clearing out some 2008's with 3 liter V6, 5 speed standards for under 13 grand a week or two ago. Automatics were $ 1400 or 1500 more.
A neighbour just got a new Ranger, 4WD, extended cab. I think they're sharp looking and it's been around so long everything must be tried and true.
O thought about the matrix/vibe, but I'm going to be looking in the $10000 range. As cheap as they're getting, they're still not that cheap. I must admit I did kinda looked at the little trucks, but with the 45-50K I put on every year, I need better mileage than they can give me. Mind you, I still haven't talked to the adjuster. She talked to my wife, btu that's it so far. Tomorrow.....
Less do ya have ultra grips, or ultra grip ice's for snowtires?
Goodyear Nordics from Canadian Tire. I understand the Nordics are sold in Canada, only by Canadian Tire. I read somewhere that they were a tire developed for Northern Europe and used there and in Canada. They made a big (positive) difference to the Vibe in the winter. The Vibe came with Goodyear RS-A all season high performance tires (they say) which were tremendously grippy in the summer, but in the winter...not great.
The winter tires...Goodyear Nordics are described herein:
Good to here your ok But you now deer season was over a couple weeks ago LOL But getting back to you were looking at a vibe , A lady at work has one and can't wait till her lease is up. Has not had very good luck with it and says that it has a lot of road noise. Any how, good to hear that you didn't get hurt either time. Those deer whistles I have heared both pos and cons some say they work and some say they atract them to you and if its snowing they plug and get a high pich whistle in the truck. My grandfather had them and after they broke off he didn't put them back on .
