Rust
Hello all I recently joined the site and I like everything I have seen so far. I just became an owner of a 1989 Bronco and it has rust in the normal spots. I wanted to see what you guys have used to stop the rust and fix the rust already on the body. Thanks for your help.

unless your pretty good with doin body work n have the pacients to do it, you could use apoxy but i went with buyin new 1/4 panels due to fender rust. (lmctruck.com) has alot for alot of trucks if you plan on doin the panels then you can get them from there, also depends on what you plan to do with the truck..

How much rust, and how much patience do you have? There is a type of acid you can get that's like water, it chemically changes the rust so that it is no longer the result of oxidization. It also prevents rust. I am planning on putting a little on my parts in need. My Dad just did his whole 65 mustang with it. top and bottom, in and out. He then flat black painted the frame, undercarriage, and floorboards. This was reccomended by his body man. That guy said that he shouldn't have to worry about rust for 30 or 40 years.
As far as repairs....how handy are you? If you can weld, you can cut out the bad spots and metal patch it. Depending on ur needs and skill and so forth, you may be able to fiberglass it with out too much problem.

I dont know how bad you rust is. One option is fender flares. Bushwacker makes ones called extenda fender that cover most fender rust. They also make cutout flares that you end up cutting out the rust (without repaqiring it) They only look good if you put some big rubber on. Between the flares and a new tailgate from JC whittney, you can make the truck look pretty good without doing any rust work.
