My understanding is some(?) ford trucks came with these, or they are a very popular refit...not sure on what i have now (slacking on getting numbers with the cruddy snow we have had)..question i have is i have a chance at scoring a dand 60 duelly setup from a chevy pickup, how hard will it be to swap it? Is there a easy swap to get back to the ford bolt pattern?
I will be at home part of tomorrow waiting on comcast (we just moved) so I'll take some shots of it and get the vin/door numbers for you to tear apart...so far outside of a vibration at apx 40mph i'm loving it...that 352 has one loud voice
The 8 lug (single) chevy axle has a smaller hub center than the ford. Ford wheels fit the chevy axle, but not the other way around. I believe all of the dually wheels will fit each other. Put a set of wheel spacers from a newer model chevy on the front and you can use the dually wheels all the way around.
If you are talking about a 5 lug unit, I have one of the spicer rear ends from a 66 F100, the gears are stripped but I still have the complete unit.
Sounds like a simple bolt in then, outside of possibly needing to relocate shock mounts, ect. nice to know the rims from my ford would fit, but then the whole point is to get the duel tire setup...If I keep the spare on a ford rim then i should be fine. Poor truck hasn't a chance of retirement around me, had it less than two months and have already made two wood runs with it and more planned. In fact tomorrow we take it on a run for a bunch of pallets i'm getting for free.
My 64 had one of those - all original - and had the 4:10 gearing. I still have it, but it isn't on my truck. I put a regular 9 inch on and now can hear my radio and not running at 3800 rpm or whatever the heck the engine was screaming at. anyone want this Dana??

I wouldn't say that....
You may have to relocate the spring perches, along with the shock mounts, if they are simlar in design(the shocks might be staggard, one in front one behind). Then there's the issue of overall axle width and how to hook up parking brake cables, u-joint compatability, etc.
