Another 4wd issue

I had my satellite radio re installed yesterday and when the guy was pulling it out of the shop I noticed my front driveshaft spinning. Now, the switch is in 2wd and the hubs in auto, any ideas?

Sounds like the stereo installer tapped into one of the ESOF wires to me. May have to pull the panel to see but he definitely did something. Try turning the SAT radio off and see if it goes back into 2WD.

Or it could be as simple as the transfer case motor didn't take it all the way out of gear. Try tapping the motor with a mallet while switching out/in 4wd.

Starting to wonder about this truck. I noticed today that with the hubs in auto that they still clunk a bit while cutting a hard turn. I know my ole Scurge didn't do that in Auto.

Sounds more like the axle stub needle bearings are dry.

Reach around the back of the front wheels and try to rotate the axle u-joint by hand. If it's gritty or ratchety, the needle bearings are shot.

If they just will not move no matter what, remove the hubs and see if they are stuck. It's not too hard to get the hubs out, but you might need a rubber mallet.
