I have that problem too, I go to a junk yard for a specific thing, and come home with everything but, because the guy says, 'nope, not got that but...' I think I need to buy myself a junk yard to play in.
One thing I never buy from a junk yard, is anything to do with the brakes - too important.

Another thing that comes to mind is electronic components such as computers and ignitions. I'm the same way at junkyards, go for one thing and walk away with twenty.
No stock radios for me either, I really dont want a junkyard battery or voltage regulator either, the 50 rule would probably apply for me in most situations, I havent been to the boneyard in a long time I'm going to head out there Saturday to check it out before winter hits, Hopefully I can find something Ford truck related that I can get on the cheap, maybe trim or interior parts also looking for a a/c compressor bracket and idler for FE they never have any Fe's tho and they certainly wont have factory air if they are FE equipped
Well, so far the rear end assembly I bought at a junkyard for $250 is working just fine after several thousand miles. I think it's going to make it the long haul.
I tend to buy things from the junkyard like hard to find body parts, ornaments, emblems, and some interior parts.. The 50 dollar rule would probably apply to most engine and electrical components for me..
I actually did buy two tires from a boneyard here in Mass. They were on rims, guy said he pulled them off a chevy 1/2 ton the day before. They were inflated to the right pressure, excellent tread. Like new. They were Goodyear All Terrains, 245/75/16s. Paid $40 for the two tires and rims. Tossed the rims and still have two like new tires I paid $40 for. Not a bad deal.
Hey Walter, I'm in Reading. It's near Andover, Wilmington, Stoneham...Hey, you know of any good offroading places around eastern Mass? Southern New Hampshire? Me and my buddy Mike are looking for better places to go than this development area here that went bankrupt. It's not bad, just not very big, not many trails.
