Expy EB Tranny question?

Expy EB Tranny question?
I have a 99 Expy E.B. (172k miles). The tranny is slipping and almost shot. The transfer case is gone as well. I love my truck so I will fix it. My question is.......With the auto 4x4 on the EB can I use a tranny and trans case out of a 2000 F-150 5.4. I know the expy has auto 4x4, 4H, and 4L, and the F-150 has 2H, 4H, and 4L, What is different about these transmissions and will they interchange?

With the transfer case out of the f150 you will no longer have the option of running the truck on a hard surface in 4wd as there will be no slippage in the transfer case. Depending on where you live that may not be a problem. Here in Minnesota it is nice to be able to leave it in auto 4wd and not worry about shifting in and out. As far as the tranny there is a good chance it might be the same one as you already have.

With 172K and a bad tranny and transfer case I would just sell it. Take the money you get for selling it and add the money you saved by not doing the tranny/TC repair and you can buy yourself a newer lower mileage truck.
