I have a 2002 7.3 power stroke new batts , GPR, GPs, Turbo, and service with 15-40 Delo i'm in south Ga so it does not get that cold here but the truck has a hard start problem and smokes bad when it frist fires up and while it idles when i rev up to 1400-1800 smoke goes away the air intack tubes are fuel of oil that is from the air filter back and the turbo tubes are also full of oil thanks for any help guys HPOP is ok also
I'm not going to be as much help to you as some of the members will be. How many miles on your truck? Does it do this when warm or just on cold starts?
I have a 01 that was smoking on cold starts and it was the Glow Plug Relay. I see you have checked it so that must not be your problem. Mine did fine unless it got below 35 degrees, then it was a smoker. I don't know what to tell you about the oil in your tubes etc. Are you running a stock air intake and filter? What part of South Ga. are you in? I'm in west central Ga. Somebody will join in that can help you, this is the right place to be !
it will just turn over and not start or it will start and shut right off it is white / blue smoke and smells like fuel and oil. i was thinking about injectors o rings but that does not explain the oil in the intack tubes does it ??
i live in Quitman right out side of Valdosta glow plug relay is good and there are 8 new glow plugs in it the truck has 116,000 miles on it. It smokes all the time at idle but is has a mind of its on on when it wants to start sometimes it will when it cold and sometimes it will not same as when the motor is hot or warm
The oil in the tubes is probably from the CCV or Crank Case Vent. It vents into the intake tube just between the filter and turbo. It can get pretty nasty in there. How's your air filter. A dirty filter will cause more oil to be pulled in. A CCV mod will take care of that problem. Don't think that is related to you starting problems. Have you checked for codes?
i had done the CCV mod a while back but it made a huge mess and smoked out of the CCV tube really bad. CPS is the cam sensor and i have not changed it and it had no codes the last time i checked and no check engine light either
When you engine is running, take the oil fill cap off and see how much smoke is coming from there. If it's more than just a light puffing, You may have problems. CCV shouldn't be making that much oil, no matter where it's vented.
it has a banks compriser wheel in the turbo that i done a while back and a superchip that came it the truck when i bought the truck no other mods then that
