well, i made a short trip after church this morning, i tested the mileage on this 80 mile trip. i filled up before i left home, and drove to lexington, with the chip on ECONOMY. i averaged 650-700# post-turbo running 80-85mph and 10 lbs of boost cruising up and down these hills around here, with the 4.10's and auto tranny. economy mode fetched me a whopping 23 MPG! i was amazed! so, on the way back i wanted to see what she'd get on Extreme. extreme rang in at 16.5ish mph. which is ok, seeing how i was running more like 85-90 and trying to puff smoke all the time, plus that includes some around-town and such. not bad eh?
I would like to know the MPG in economy with one or two tanks. so please keep posting us.
will do! i drove from bowling green to henderson (100 miles in an hour and 15 minutes i think) on 1/4 of one tank. 80-85 mph constant speed and 2500-2700 rpms
Tony is good but not that good.
I would kill for your mpg #'s.
Just not possible. 23 mpg with 305/70/16 +
4.10 + auto + 4x4 running at 80 and + MPH.
You have to recalculate your figures or give me your secrets.
hey, it coulda been a freak accident. but, thats honest to goodness what it checked, and i ran it till it was pouring out the filler neck, all it would hold on level ground. i will re-check later today, but will include a quite a bit of around-town, on extreme stomping down.
68 miles/2.9 gallons (by the time you run some out)=about 23.4 mpg
Have you ever checked your ODO with mile markers on the interstate?
Do you have a GPS?
Go on the interstate and set the CC at 60mph. You should do 60 seconds per mile.
ODO/Speed O/ and mile markers should match.
I also have the same doubts and questions like Bill. Its very difficult to believe that MPG , but, who knows, thats the reason Im suscribed to this post.
I could see 23 at say 60 or so but 80-85 is kinda high. But if you truly are getting that more power to ya. It wouldnt suprize me to see the speedo to be off some though. It would be interesting to see the MPG on a couple tanks too not just 70 miles.
i agree i could believe that figure at 60mph but not at 80, also if you do have 4.10's something is way outta whack i run 2500 rpm's at 73mph (edit you do realy need to do some full tank runs to get an good idea of fuel millage, a 2.9 gallon run is realy hard to get an accurate millage reading, just percentage of an gallon underfill will change your calculation substantial)
too much wind resistance, too much boost, pyro too high, something is plain wrong here. If not, Ford will be knocking on your door before 09 gets here.......................and you wont ever worry about selling your truck again, itll just be gone.......
i checked speedo on the way here with one of the trooper read-out machines. its dead on. i just filled up to check my last 140 miles. some difference, but i was in extreme much of the time, and ran about 85 on the last 140 miles. it checked out to only 16.5ish mpgs, but thats with 30-40 miles around town, and about an hour and a half of idle time. the 23.5 doesnt make much sense, i know. the retur trip will be approximately 250 miles, and mostly straigh through. for the sake of science and my pocket book, i'm either gonna set the cruise on 65-70, and do the limit, or have someone else drive, cause i tend to go faster and faster. if i begin running 70, i will accelerate until i find myself running 90+ and cranking 3200 rpms, then let out and it soo happens all over again. but, i am gonna make myself get a longer mileage accurate read-out
