Hey guys? What happened to our nice friendly forum? 2 threads turning into flame fests in a couple days! To quote some bubble-headed goth actress, "take a pill." Each build is different anyway. Just find out what seems to keep the trucks happy - and clean.
P.S. Besides, I like this thread in particular & its originator, DRB. And it's interestingly helpful for my truck.

Reason: Forgot
I've run both paper and airaid in engines. I've never seen a difference in performance untill the engine had some heavy mods on it even then it was minamal. For stock rangers the ammount of air the engine pulls doesn't require that big of a filter. The intake isn't areodynamic. There is too much drag in there. If you had a smooth walled, waxed intake system, then maybe you'd see a benifit to a less restrictive air filter. You only start seeing a difference in forced air systems. Especially t-charged system. If you using a hood scoop, you'd need to be going really fast to acheive anything. I'm all for mods, but personally if your wanting to throw 100 bux at something, try and build a custom cai w/ some kind of froced air. Highway speeds are where you'd see the most improvement anyway I've taken my ranger up 4 mpg with that setup. Though intowns about the same.
ive always just used the stock replacement filter, used to be purolater until meijer stopped carrieng them. i think its got a fram in it now. i usually change the a/f once a year. usually in the spring.
I don't care if I'm fooling myself are not, I feel air come through and hit me thats all I need to know. I'm not trying to make a science project out of it. Like I said it's mental, don't like paper filters. for anyone who does, the stores are full of them, help your self. People are still friendlt Matt, there just hung over, drunk or something, it is new years after all hee hee.
Your really not going to see much performance gain Alan with just an intake. You need inatke, exhaust and tune to proper fuel/air ratio's so they work together as a system. The bama engine programer was the heart of my mods on the 04 ranger. Once I had the tunes, it came alive. Remember on your turbo ranger the difference it made once you got those custom tunes for it. If I remember right, didn't Doug from bama help you with that?
I use k,n filters only because there washable,I dont use the oil just a garden hose. im not looking for more air ,just a filter that can be cleaned over and over again.
