I like the looks of this truck - the pictures dont do it much justice but it has a bit of a 'presence' to it that was quite similar to that of my Lariat 'LE' dually with racerback and factory visor. Many people commented that it looked like it should be pulling a racecar or something!
I do like the fancy interior. And the cummins. The rest to me is just a dodge. I can respect how a dodge guy would like it though, its kinda like the king ranch for ford, if your not a ford guy, ya wont like em!
Its the Dodge version of the King Ranch - the KR has been around for a while and I think this is a fresher look. The Cummins is the very strong plus over the Navistar fiascos, but I would expect the Ford to ride better. The 6.7 is very, very quiet! I have not paid much attention to the performance numbers they are achieving with tuning because I would never waste my time driving any vehicle in stock trim ever again. The last 350000 + kilometers I have made have been on vehicles with tuners and stock is just lame to me!
as i've said before, this is a sharp looking truck...even if its a dodge... on edit, i'm not much for the interior of it. looks to bland for a "limited edition" series...
I didnt think the same as you on the interior Sherm - maybe I didnt have a close look though as I only saw one on the lot in Humboldt. I have seen a couple driving around since. The interior reminded me very much of that in the Lincoln pickups or the Denali GM's - the beige type of leather rather than the grey or tan that have been the norm in trucks for quite some time now.
On a side note - did Ford change the color on the KR leather in the last few years as they now appear more orangish rather than the more dark brown I remember them to be originally?
My relative has the 6.7 Cummins and has said it is very hard on fuel compared to his 6.0 powerstroke and the old 5.9 cummins. Otherwise they are fairly nice looking trucks.
Ive never actually heard much yet about the 6.7 cummins.
The 5.9s were pretty good on fuel, same with the 6.uhoh's. Alot of 6.uhoh's that I know can get 18-20 mpg on the highway! That aint bad for a huge brick of a truck!
Yeah having a gasser around isnt a bad idea! Im content with my diesel right now, it doesnt have as much power as a new one, but still has plenty, and it gets great mileage.
Here diesel is 82 a liter, and gas is 75, so if ya drive a bigger gas truck, or diesel truck, they pretty much equal out.
Hopefully diesel drops in the spring/summer like it normally does!
Stick a tuner on a cummins and you can achieve crazy amounts of cheap horsepower. You would love that aspect.
Im not sure if they changed the color of the KR around or not. All i know is I LOVE how comfy that leather is, over my lariat stuff!
i just finished reading an article on tuning diesels. they stated that the current cummins 6.7 is the hardest new diesel to tune for a DPF delete. Chevy being the easiest, Ford being middle. The stock mpgs are 14avg-chevy, 12-14mpg-Ford, and 14mpg-dodge... dpf delete and tune throws up a 4-6mpg increase!!!!
i can't find a link to an article on the internet, but it was from Ford Performance Trucks, from the editors of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords...
i don't think the KR leather has changed color, but the latest one i seen in person was an '08 PSD... as for disliking the interior of the R-E dodge, its more of a "i think they could have done better" line of thought than a dislike. for a limited series of truck, personally i'd like to see more color or distinctiveness to it...

The only Dodge truck I would consider would be the Resistol but I think it will be too expensive being it was only a 2008 model but time will tell. They look as horny as my 'LE' did but thats all personal taste though! Dodge resale is not as good as GM though (this is according to the guys who go to the dealer auctions, not my observations) so maybe its attainable - I dont want to borrow money for a vehicle!
As for power I think every one of the 'electronic controlled' diesels will make for smiles - I really regret not having a chance to line up my F350 with my buddies 2008 Dmax w/Edge. He starts with more power stock, is a tad lighter, and has 6 gears. My truck has (had??) 4.10 gears and it really launched hard once past that bit of turbo lag. It wasnt all a bad thing becuase it let it roll out somewhat and hook up rather than just lighting 'em up!
I know that with the Dmax trucks, there will be many to choose from so thats alwasy good for the one I buy will have to be like new!
Somehow the H2 SUT just throws me for a loop - maybe a mid life crisis (again!!!).
I was never overly impressed with the one 03 duramax we had as a shop truck in Prince albert. It was ok, but definatly didnt blow anything comparible out of the water, in any aspect.
I hope gas gets under 70 cents a liter here, I filled up in edmonton and lloyd last time i came back from alberta, and was under 70 cents both times!
