Hi, I have a 98 f150 regular cab 4x4 with a 4.6. I was just stuck so I my brother pulled me out well jerked me out is a better term. Because of where I was he had to pull me out on an angle from behind. Now when I drive the truck the box twists alot as I turn either way, I can also feel it as it moves from one spot to the other.
I did a quick visual on the mounts and they looked fine. Is the problem likely to be a broken bolt or what? The truck also has a 3 inch suspension and 3 inch body lift.
I've checked all the bolts holding the box to the frame and all seem to be tight, I'm at a loss to know what could be wrong and I need the truck for work very quickly.
piz, its going to be very difficult for anyone here to give a good idea since this is not a "normal" everyday problem. you have a body lift and a axle lift. you jerked the thruck sideways by pulling on what? Did you jery on the bed or the frame? I think all you can do is get under and start looking. Take a ruler and start measuring things to see what moved. Its hard to believe the bed "moves" when you turn a corner, but you dont have loose bolts. If the bolts are tight, then the frame must be bent or the alxe / lift bolts bent.
how about shoving the box sideways (setting in the driveway) and have a buddy look to see whats moving?
dont suppose a rim is bent from pulling sideways, and causing the truck to wiggle?
This is why I wouldnt lift a perfectly good truck....I geuss you know more than ford engineers.....good luck!!!!!
Thanks cause the lift is the sole reason of this. Way to go hero, you must be a smart one spelling guess.
I had my brother watch for anything while I wiggled/reefed on the box and he said he didn't see anything. I'll be taking it in to someone to look at now unless I find something. Thanks to everyone else for the help.
Leaf spring center bolt broke? U-bolts broke or loose maybe? I'd measure wheelbase on both sides to make sure the axle isn't moving. Just a thought or two.
