I am interested in getting a few more miles to the gallon out of my 2005 F250 6.0. My son has a superchips on his 2004 250 6.0 and works alright. Looking for any additional information from those who know it best.
SCT, SCT, SCT!!!! Go with an SCT X3 and get custom tunes from any of the vendors on this site. I would give Eric a call at Innovative Diesel, tell him what you want, and you won't be disappointed!
Research it here on this site. The majority of us run SCT's on our trucks for a reason. Far more control over the motor and tranny which will result in more and safer power.
It's not just here, you can check on any Powerstroke website and they will tell you the same thing. They might not be so polite as we are here, maybe even heckle you a little...JK
Just put an SCT Xcal3 in my 07 and HOLY CRAP! I have the "aggresive street tune" flashed on there and I cannot believe the difference. It woke up the truck for sure.
I did the research on this site and the SCT seems to be the smartest way to program the truck.
Fellas, I'm learning about the tuning scene as fast as I can here. I've heard about Matt's tunes at Spartan but saw on his website that he doesn't deal with SCT anymore and his tune archive is gone.
Anyway, why is SCT better than the boxes (Quad, etc.)? Is it better control over the transmission?
I am like you, went to the local truck places told them I just need to clean up accelleration, get a few more mpg and that I would tow occasionally. Common reply was to go with a Hypertech programmer.
I wrote to the guy in Ga who has all the info on the 6.0 and asked him and he recommended a couple of things so here are the links he referred to.
I have thought about going with a Fass fuel filter set up, an accufab elbow and a programmer, also a bypass oil filter kit. Just right now dont have the money to do really anything. I think the oil filter kit will be 1st however.
Anyhow take a look hope it helps. The comments on sct and other programers from the local guys are that they are more performance oriented and not what I was looking for. So I really dont know at this time.
The thing with the sct is that you can get custom tunes. Since Matt (spartan) got away from SCT the perferred tuner is Eric @ inovative. Call Eric and tell him what yoy want out of your truck. He will write the tunes to what you want it to do.
Also Spartan has a new tuner comming out for the 6.0.

SCT is not just for performance oriented people. SCT allows custom tunes which can be Tow specific, Economy specific, or Racing specific (plus anything in between and the custom tuners can tune the tranny to shift how you like it)

Yes Spartan has a new tuner that should allow Matt to have more control over different parameters most importantly the FICM and uses the DashDaq combo for gauges.
A lot of us on here have SCT's from Spartan but since he doesn't tune SCT anymore have needed to find other tuners.
I like others have called Eric at Innovative and his tunes are GREAT!
Lots of options you just need to see what fits your needs/budget.
