So yesterday I am driving down the road my truck shuts off. All the lights in the dash started to flash and all of my guages started twitching. When I pulled over I found the entire electric system wouldn'ty work like the batteries were completely dead. Then the dash started to make a tickin sound. Then while I was being pulled home I figured I would gine it a shot and it fired up no problem. Now as it sits in the drive it wont do anything. Any help would be great. Thanks
I would say one of two things....a very loose ground/corroded. Could be at the block end of the ground cable....or....A very nasty short just waiting to heat up and start melting wires. Although the ground would be my first choice. Go through and check all the grounds from the battery where they connect...as well as the battery terminals themselves. Since it affected everything....I would bet on a main ground more than a sub-circuit.
The ground was what I checked first. The batteries are only a year old and not corroded. But I pulled them anyways and I am waitin for a ride to the battery shop to have them tested. Any other ideas in case that's not my problem?
The shutting off and now not having a problem sounds like CPS to me...
Hmmmmm I was thinking that when he said, "Now nothing" meant no start. If nothing is wrong now, then I would go with the CPS too...except for when mine went out, the gauges and dash lights didn't freak out.
