Tranny Problem
I am new to this forum as well as fairly new to the owning of a classic ford truck...
I recently Purchased a '71 F250 Camper Special With a 360 and a C-6 automatic...
After a few fixes had the truck road worthy and am happy as a clam...
There is only one problem that persists and am looking for some advice before I go ahead on fixing it...
When I first start the truck up in the morning (I.E. whenever the truck is cold) it takes a wile for any of the forward facing gears to engage. I have reverse right off the bat but I have to let the truck warm up for an unusually long period before the tranny kicks in and I am going down the road...
I have replaced the tranny filter and fluid (the fluid was still red and had no burnt smell to it when I changed it)...
I have talked to a couple of people about possible solutions to this problem but the consistent answer I keep getting is to rebuild or replace the tranny... But I have a hard time swallowing that considering that once the tranny grabs I have good solid shifts and no slipage in any gear. Even when pulling hills loaded.
So any Ideas??
