Motor swap quickie
How hard would it be to install a 351W in a 1970 F100? Are the motor mounts the same? I have a guy who wants the 302 out of my truck and is offering to trade me a 351W for it.

pretty much a direct swap the only difference is the brackets(ie. alt,ac,ect,ect) and the exaust Y-pipe wont work. the manafolds will work but the Y-pipe wont. engine mounts are the same and so is theflywheel and bell

I did this swap into a 71 F-100 which came new with a 302. Absolutely everything is the same except that the extra height of the 351W spreads the exit location of the exhaust manifolds as compared to the 302. My engine came from a 75 Torino and the passenger side manifold hit the frame on that side. I notched the frame for clearance then reinforced it, but it would be cleaner with headers or manifolds designed for truck use.

The truck has BBK equal length shorties on it right now. I know they'll bolt to the windsor. I'm just hoping there'll be enough room on the sides so I don't have to redo the exhaust (again).
