will your battery last long enough with that thing running during Artic weather outside?
IMHO, if your engine is off, you should be inside the house, not inside the Aerostar....
El Correcta me If I am Wrongo.
The problem is that I live in 5 miles fare from my work and I drive every day in cold van. This heater has timer and I can program it for 7-30 a.m. and drive warm inside van. to heat enine is no reason. Additional battery is not a problem. But seems to me heater will work 2-3 hours a day... nol longer, so I will not use to much fuel....
block heater heats engine only. sometimes I have to drive too far from rest areas and motels and I do not drive there in winter having no opportunity to sleep in van. My friend use something loke opti idle. I'd like to have warm air heater. I used to think about hot water heater, like Webasto Thermo 90, DW 80 ore something like this heating engine block and interiour but they use more fuel.
For aero size van AT2000 ore Eberspacher D1LC are recomended, AT 9000 is for mid size bus ore 10-20" truck body (to deliver wine, water, beer when it is really cold outdoors)... Yeah this is for commercial vechicles and 20-40" RV, but anyway it is better to have more heat then enought then less.
I get this heater nearly for free w/o fuel pump, but I can get used but good for $50-100 becouse 12V pump is difficult to sale here (we have usually 24 V trucks, 12V trucks are old Soviet ore made in the USA).
Pablo,
I apologize, I did not know you were located in the Ukraine, where it must be very cold weather, and now I understand why you want the vehicle warmed up without the engine running. (I thought you were in the States).
Ok, here is an idea:
hot air moves UP naturally, right?
what about locating the unit in the area where the spare tire is normally mounted in the Aerostar? There is a good open area there but you will have to move the spare tire somewhere else.
then you will need to cut some holes in the floor to install the Vents for the unit, so the heated air will naturally flow UP into the cabin.
Again, just an idea, I have never seen the unit you are describing, I have seen air conditioned trucks here in the USA, and they normally place the units on the roof, which must affect the aerodynamics of a moving vehicle, creating a lot of drag.
There are places in the US that can use interior car heaters as well as the usual block, battery, and coolant heater. In Fairbanks, the 3 piece heaters for the engine compartment is standard equipment, but some people have interior heaters set on timers. Unfortunately, other things need to be heated as well, but I haven't seen standard heaters for them: Tires will have a flat spot until they are warmed up, and dampers (shock absorbers) are also pretty ineffective until they're warmed up enough to soften their seals.
I can use heater exaust to warm up engine oil pan. Exaust temperature is about 60 dgr C.
I wanna install heater inside becouse I can damage it on bad roads. I read webasto recomendations for buses an seems to me the best place is under the sofa...
