another exhaust question...

hey fellas,

got the rumble itch, but i'm undecided as to which way to go. is there any performance pro's/con's (i know there's minimal performance from exhaust alone...i'm not done yet...) to a muffler with dual exits vs a single straight pipe from the cat back? i'm stuck between the two ideas... i already have the tuner, will have CAI sometime soon down the road...

thanks for your input, and please post any and all your sound clips of your exhaust setup and sounds...

I run a performance curve 1 chamber si/do with 45* turn outs toward the bumper with 3" tips. I like it. Next im getting a high flow cat. The performance curve mufflers are just like flowmasters but without the name. paid 25 bux plus shipping for mine. I'll have to make a clip so u can hear it if you're interested

sure dixie, i'd like to hear it. did a pile of searching through youtube, but a lot of guys have no idea where to place a camera or mike to get the proper sound transfer so it ends up ratchety and distorted...

a SISO or SIDO will be about the same performance wise. with a tuner, CAI, exhaust...you are only looking to "gain" maybe 30 HP. The stock exhaust can flow that pretty easily.

it really comes down to what piping setup you want for your purposes. IMO, trucks deserve dual pipes...but, I'm just a disguised redneck 99% of the time

overall, the factory piping is plenty big enough to make some decent power. I love my current Magnaflow SIDO. enough noise, but it's not overbearing. I really recommend either the SISO or SIDO from Magnaflow....quality stuff and amazing sound

Magnaflow Single Inlet, Dual Outlet Catback (SIDO #16614), Volant CAI: 0-45 mph slowly accel
YouTube - Accelerating from a stop to 45 mph

Magnaflow Single Inlet, Dual Outlet Catback (SIDO #16614), Volant CAI: 20-80 mph floored
YouTube - Accelerating from 20 MPH to 85 MPH

Magnaflow Single Inlet, Dual Outlet Catback (SIDO #16614), RoushCharger w/ CAI: Revving the motor...you can hear the exhaust sorta decently
YouTube - RoushCharger Whine from the Cab

but, I'm limiting my HP now since I don't have a true dual setup. That will be fixed shortly using an "X" pipe and x2 18" Maggie bullet mufflers.

that sounds pretty good Tylus, but i'm unwilling to spend the 650(cad) for the volant system... i'd sooner spend the 5g for the charger...

good pick...I love the Volant...but it didn't do much in terms of performance

btw, S/C'er is about $2,500 USD from Roush right now for the +112 HP version...$5,000 USD for the +140 HP version

Tylus, do you have a link to those prices? I see $6,000 on the Roush site. I see $5,400 on a sponsors site. I don't mind saving money.

sorry for dragging this off-topic
eBay Seller: roushperformance: Parts Accessories, eBay Motors items on eBay.com
Official Roush eBay seller...as in, it is Roush selling the stuff, not a reseller

^ had them up for $2,400 + $60 shipping. Check with them, or even e-mail 'em. Roush was trying to blow-out their 04-08 stock of RoushChargers.

Hope they can hook you up...they certainly did me. I paid $2,750 for my RoushCharger ($2,400 + $350 s/h to Hawaii)
