Got beat
I got beat by a 06 Sierra 5.3 z71 4x4, lifted 6" lift with 36s, exhaust. Not sure about tune, but I'm pretty sure intake. I had it from the start, but he caught up, and passed me, and I realized, "damn I'm on a street by a mall this is really stupid" And he had got me, basically so I let off. Is this based on the "grandma tune" of a stock f150?
Oh btw, I have a 05, F150 Screw 4x2 with the 5.4. true dual, straight pipes, it was me and two of my buddies.
Rather depressing

x2 that thought! I realize that you encounter others on the streets and that testosterone can get flowing when the guy in the truck next to you revs his engine. (Been there, Done that) However you have to maintain control of your impulses. All it takes is 1 part failure to destroy lives. There is a raceway somewhere near that you can feed the need for speed.

Not trying to offend anyone here....
But if you wanna race, get a Mustang, and take it to a track. A 5-6,000 lb truck is NOT designed for it!
The way I look at it, whoever is racing me just can't win... In my truck, I just won't race. Ever. Just let 'em try against my motorcycle.....

I took my stock truck to a local test and tune to find out what it would do. Now I am focusing on the wifes 1990 Mustang, which is a street legal drag car.
Take your need for speed to your local track!!!

something's not right with your truck. i've put numerous 5.3's in their place with my '08, including a Avalanche which i think was tweaked and possibly the 6.0 in there as it was an LTZ...
my truck was stock, with the 5.4, 3.55LS diff... no way he should have walked on you like that!!

it's funny, but nobody evers revs on me...I'd love to show a few of the 5.3 boys a thing or 2
my truck just looks so innocent and slow
I'm more of a stop to speed limit warrior. I may leave the line like a bat out of hell, but it gets shut down ASAP when the truck hits the speed limit. It's just too dangerous otherwise, and speeding tickets suck
you sure? I thought the 6.0 was only available in the 3/4 ton, or the Denalli trim. I looked for a while trying to find one this spring

Depends on which truck it is! A Roush racing suspension, big brakes and a supercharger.... a Lightning, a SRT10, etc. heh heh
Keep it under the speed limit, don't be stupid, and know when its inappropriate. Cop once told me that's why the young guys get killed: they don't know when and where not to race and they don't know when to back off. Adrenaline kicks in and their mind turns off.
I generally stay away from trucks except those designed with it in mind. Seems every redneck in town with a loud exhaust, a glowing Edge, a big block V8, a diesel, or growly intake thinks it makes his truck a race truck, and I'll let them amuse themselves without my participation. If anything, my driving has been less aggressive with this truck... I have nothing to prove.
I know a guy who beats motorcycles in his 600 RWHP Cobra. I bet they never saw that coming! Personally, given the number of miles I've put on motorcycles (well over 100K), I'd never race on one. It makes racing in a non-race truck look like a safety demonstration. I've personally seen something as simple as condensation on a paint stripe but a rider on his rump. Given that you are roughly 10 times more likely to die on a motorcycle than in a car/truck... its downright scary to think of the consequences.

What do you mean by that? there are 5 or 6 RABID Chevy owners up here, (you know, the ones with the Calvin urinating on the Ford Oval, with the bumper stickers all over them, etc) who have been beat by my truck. they avoid getting up on me at the light now.
Don't doubt if you're thinking your 02 is even close to as quick as an 08. I used to have an 02.
