Well Joe I really enjoy this sight and even though I have owned some of these trucks since 1985 and worked as a mechanic and owned a shop for several years during these trucks heyday I still learn a lot on here. From 83 when these motors came out until 99 when I closed my shop I really did not do a lot of work on them these were probably the most reliable motors on the market un matched until dodge came out with the cummins.
Another thing most of them had a 100,000 mile warranty so most of what I learned about them was the hard way would have been nice to have had this site back in 85 when I bought a wreck with 15,000 miles and installed the engine and radiator in my 76 highboy I never even hooked up the gp's because I couldn't figgure the wiring out now it would be easy. So 20 bucks is pretty cheap enterainment for me. I will tell you another thing you get your truck lined out like it is supposed to be drive it like it was built for and it will be the cheapest vehicle maintenance wise you will ever own.
OK I found the forum nothing about fords more of a rant and rave.
Joe get the d60 when you can afford it. Always take your time and do quality repairs and upgrades as you can afford and take care of it when you get done you will have something to be proud of. That is something that nobody can ever take away from you.
P.S. You never really get done.
HEY I,v owned a few dodges 66 or 7 dart gt 4sp I even had a hemi and 2spd linco tranny in a 3/4 ton pu had a lot of fun in both of them. But like Joe I was young and a fast learner.
I want a new Challenger so bad I can taste it.
I figure about 10 years from now I'll get a ten year old one when I can afford it and the selling price is more in my league.
I always thought I might restore a MOPAR muscle car someday but the older I get the more I realize that's probaly not going to happen. I can work on trucks and if they have a dent or ding here or there no big deal.
On the other hand a dented car is just a dented car. The wear doesn't add character it just makes it look like a P.O.S.
Ain't that the truth I've done a little body work but would starve to death if I had to make a living at it I'm SLOOOOOOW.
If I came across an affordable 69 goat convertible though I'd have to.

I just lost a bid on a 69 LeMans w/gto badges from a federal sight that auctions off drug seized vehicles. It went for $8000 +.
Ive been lustin over one of those Challengers my self since the first one I saw on a calender. I thought it was a Chip Foose job a first. Now there is one runnin around this little town but havent got close enough to check it out yet.
My parents have a Charger R/T 5.7L Hemi and I really like it but the styling isn't retro enough for me. The Challenger was done almost perfect though. They desighned in as much retro as they could within the safety standards of today.
I want a 5.7L 6-speed, haven't seen one yet, only automatics.
The 6.1L of last year was only available in the SRT-8 with an auto and it doesn't have the milti-displacement system of the 5.7L. The 5.7L and 6-spd. combo should get really good hwy. mileage.
