well i was trying to get my truck out of a parking spot because some idiot decided to plow my truck in so i had to use 4wd to get out i started going and heard a pop and my 4x4 didnt work anymore.the noise came from the front end.u-joints are intact from what i could see.could this be the front diff.?any ideas would be great.i just want somewhere to start.
worse case snaped an axle of broke ur spiders of the chain in ur tcase snaped u when i saw ur post i thought u pop that huge boil on ur *** lol iam to funny
it has manual lock outs.it has been makin noise for a while when in 4wd.so i have been avoiding using it until i tear it down it only popped before when turning but this time it popped under pressure when i was tryin to get out of the giant snow pile.could the front diff do that?a guy helping me said after they quit spinning they started spinning one more time.as i was making my way out.could the gears in the front diff be gone?and just catching here and there?
4 low wouldnt work either so i dont know really where to start if i had the resources i would put it up in the air in 4x4 and put it in 4x4 and drive and see if the driveshaft out of the transfer case was spinning.that would cover that issue.if it is im really going to be mad i could have gotten one off craigslist newly rebuilt out of a truck that had a blow motor for $50!!should have picked it up anyway.
Leave your tcase in nuetral turn your driveshaft by hand see what it feels like and if you have an axle turning then lock one hub and turn it again the other axle should turn lock the other hub you should not be able to turn it now but put a little pressure on it and see some where in all this you should feel something.
