Ok, 87 6.9 towing about 4000# on a 200 mile round trip. Temp never got above 150ish, granted it was 20's-30's all day. Have a fuel leak, with the drip spot being fuel running off the starter. Otherwise did good, 12.5mpg with the fuel leak, and this time it pulled the 3400 Kubota just fine, with a LOT of black smoke on the I-10 overpasses.
i know my truck will black smoke when i start it and for about the first 20 seconds or so when it's really cold out. maybe your thermostat is stuck open, or you need a winterfront. how did the truck do last winter?
winter doesnt really count here, it was 20-30 yesterday low 43 high low 60's today tomorrowand next 3 days low 60's high 70's
Last winter it never dorve more that 2 miles a day & the temp gauge was shot. I replaced the aftermarket temp about month or 2 ago.
Our seasons here in east texas are a little different than the rest of the country, we have Spring , Summer 1 , Hotter than Hell, Summer 2 , Christmas. Thats the 5 seasons of South east texas
;0
My thermostat came apart was idling around 120 130 new thermostat idled as 170 175 running empty 190 this was o to 15 below.
If he was to run a winterfront in east texas he would get some strange looks.
yeah, i see no need for a winter front around here... i have seen 9 deg. but that was only 2 times, i think 83&89 so no big concearn here about serious cold...
Are you using the stock temp gauge or an aftermarket one? The stock gauges are known to be quite inacurate but consistend. But since you have the temp up there it sounds like you have an aftermarket. I would try a themostat first as well. The fule leak is probly an injector return cap or line leaking into the valley wich will drain out down by the starter.
Diesel burns more efficient I like mine to run around 200.
Martin my sister called from beaumont the other day and said they had a good snow.
I can imagine the wrecks now.
there were a couple of fatal wrecks early that morning, but for the most part everyone did pretty good about driving. I put about 200 miles in the snow and only saw 1 idiot who spun out on the side of 59 north of houston, and 2 idiots w/ 4x4's trying to pull the car out. All the trucks were doing was joining the car on the side of the slope. hehe
