LAST EDITED ON 10-May-01 AT 07:44 PM (EST)[p]Soon I'm going to be buying about a '76 Ford. Yet to be determined whether it will be an F100, F150, or F250. Currently I'm leaning towards the F250. I see at NT&W that they have a 6" susp. lift (Skyjacker) for F250's, but they don't include the shocks. Now, When I look at 4wheelparts they have Skyjacker but no old F250 lifts, but they include the shocks. So I had two questions. 1. If I bought an F150 6" susp. lift would it work on the F250 of the same year? 2. Does anyone know of any other lifts like Superlift or Rancho that has an F250 (around '76) 6"?
Thanks
Oh yeah I think I'm talking about a Low boy, since the ad doesn't say High Boy, But High Boy info would be nice as well as Low Boy =)
i bought my 6in lift front and rear springs fer my F250 from 4wheel parts they do have shocks and a kit sold separtly.SKY JACKER was the lift i got.the F250 and the F150 in the front are totaly different.so they wont be interchangable.the F150 is a coil spring front the F250 is a leaf spring front.but if you get a F150 super cab 4x4 it will have the F250 front leaf suspension.which is the leaf springs.do yourself a favor and go with SKY JACKER i have bought 2 lifts from them.and they are awesome.great people to deal with.the same with 4 wheel parts.they will go out of there way to please you.plus give you the best deal.
I've got one more question actually.
I have a 4wheelparts store about 20 minutes from my house (Thats why I was dissapointed about them not having the lift... on their website, but I'll check their store sometime this weekend) and see, well I'm new to the whole like mechanics of a truck and all. My friend is quite good with cars. He's never actually installed a lift or anything but he says the lift kit should come with directions. Well if it doesn't, do you think 4wheelparts would install the lift for me? If so how much would it cost? Guess thats it.
Thanks
BTW nice spinning Ford Logo. Know where I can get one for Chevy? He he, sorry just kidding. Although I do like Chevys =) but not as much as Fords.
when i went in to 4wheel parts they had to look it up.be cause the trucks are so old and the market has all the new trucks and suvs to keep up with.yes the kit comes with directions.they would install it for you.i think the cost was bout $200 - 300 bucks.you will pay more for the kit than other kits.but you know the old saying "YA GET WHAT YA PAY FOR".good luck and remeber to get the drop pitman arm and the drag link and the extended brake lines.this will complete you install.and you will have to have them anyway.
Does the kit come with directions on how to do that other stuff? Such as the pitman arm or whatever and the break lines(?)? Would 4WheelParts do it for me if I had them install the lift? And does it cost extra to do the breaks and stuff, as in do I have to buy more things?
yes they would install all the stufffor you at an additional cost.i did the swap myself.its really straight forward.just remove the old and install the new.
I think I'll just pay the extra cost. Considering I'm new to all this stuff. How much do the extended breaklines and all that other stuff cost to buy? Well, now considering, if it's pretty straight forward perhaps I could do it myself but the kit comes with directions on how to drop the arm and do the breaks and stuff right? And once more do I have to buy the extended breaklines and that kind of stuff?
if you get the F250 lift its just a front and rear leaf springs lift.so it is no big deal to change out the parts.the brake lines should be bout a $125 bucks give or take a few dollars.but if you dont know how to bleed the brakes once you open the system.then it would be a good idea to let them do it.you never want to mess with your brakes never never never.if you get the F150 with the twin I beams it would be best if ya let them do it because there will be some torching and welding required on this lift according to tech articals i have read in 4x4 magazines.

I installed a lift kit on my 1979 Ford Bronco (which has the same suspension as the F-150) and every thing was strait forward, no welding or cutting was required, it was just remove and replace!
