Have a friend that has a 95 explorer with a V6 that just quit running. He said that it was running fine but when he turned it off then went back out 5 minutes later it wouldn't start. I checked all fusses and relays and it does have spark but won't run. Now when I turn the key to the on position I don't hear the fuel pump engage. He said that he has heard it before but now nothing. Could this be the fuel pump or could it be the fuel solinoid on the fuel rail. I don't know for sure if these two work together or if they are independent. Please advise as to what it could be. Thanks
I did check the relay on the distribution box. I swithed it with the relay that controled the fog lamps and it did nothing. where is this switch you mentioned? How does this work and what can I do to fix it if it is tripped?

The fuel inertia switch should be on the passenger side firewall just above where the carpet stops. All you have to do is reset the switch just using your hand, no tools needed...kinda like reset on a GFI at home. The switch is designed to cut off the fuel pump in case of an accident but can get bumped by someone's foot or whatever.
OK checked that and it is not tripped. Checked plug too and it is good. What else could it be if not the fuel pump. I checked everything that I know of that could be it and find nothing that could be the problem. I am pretty good mechanics wise but this doesn't make any sense. The pump could go without warning but it was running fine before this happened. Just want to make sure that I am checking everything before I get into something like this. Not a hard job just want to clear all the bases to be sure.
Go back to the inertia switch plug and see if you are getting power to it when you turn the key to the on position. If not, then the problem is between the ignition and the intertia switch. If you are getting power there then the problem is between the inertia switch and/or the fuel pump.
One thing I didn't mention was it was very cold and there was a snow storm at the time. Could the cold have anything to do with it? I won't be able to do any checks on the truck till after the 26 so whatever anyone can come up with for now is very helpful and appreciated. What else is there between the inertia switch and the pump that I could check? I really suspect that it is the pump but want to make sure.
