Hey guys Im looking to put an engine heater on my Ranger truck. Its a 2.3l 4 cylinder. Ive talked to a couple off mechanics but nobody has put on one off these trucks. I was thinking off a block type heater or will maybe go the tank type if that dont work. You guys have engine heaters on your Ranger. Just curious to what you got an where its located. Thanks for any input its much appreciated. Im a firm believer in engine heaters on any motor. Its so much easier on the motor in these cold conditions. Thanks again for your help. Hope fully a few mechanics will read this an get there input.
So it looks like Im out off luck on this one. So anybody out there can help me. I was hoping for some response. Any idea on where to find out some info here. Any reply would be helpful.
my friend has eberspacher water heater in his car. Timer turnes it on at 7 a.m. before he drives to work and at 16-30 p.m. He got used one from old semi for $300...
There were heaters that you could mount in the lower (retrun) radiator hose if my memory is still functional. You would cut the hose, remove a section (~1" - 2.54cm) and insert the heater in place of the removed section, of course, using hose clamps. It was then plugged in and kept the coolant warm. I *think* that J.C.Whitney, or Warshawski (same place, different name) sold them in their catalog.
Living in Georgia (usa) we don't need them as much as further North. I know Nebraska can get cold. I drove a AH Sprite from Indianapolis to Boulder, Co, one winter. We stopped for a cup of coffee, and by the time we got back out ( 10-15 minutes) I had to use the choke to get it to start. We also had to pack towels around the base of the removable convertible top to keep some air in , and put cardboard in front of the radiator to keep the engine somewhat warm. Yup. I was cold.
