Thinking of turbo options today....has anyone ever put a variable pitch turbo on the 7.3? I still do not have my 'puter so my search is very limited. The Duramax runs them and just wondered if it has come up or tried.
big hell no from me. nothing but issues on the 6.0's. to many variables to go wrong and blow up your motor. unreliable and in my opinion the 6.0's still have lots of turbo lag even with the vgt turbo. get a nice healthy ball bearing turbo and you will be happy with that
I did nopt know the 6.blows came with them.
It was just a though, show on speed was putting a turbo controler on a Chevy and I thoght it was kinda neat. Guess I will keep rolling pennies for an H2E

Thats what I did. I guess I looked at it this way. If I'm going to upgrade to a better turbo I want one that I can customize and find parts readily. It's mroe pricy, but I think in the long run you'd rather have a holset.
no buddy vanaaken had a 6oh variable vane turbo on his 7.3 one large issue with the vv turbo is how to properly control it, the 6oh uses throttle pos, rpm, speed, trans gear, fueling rate, oil temp, boost level, driver pucker factor not to mention who knows how many other things to control the turbo he ended up finally giving up on it since the control setup was never gonna pan out without tons of money he said you can setup sequential turbos for alot less and have more reliability of a fixed turbo
beans turbo is supposed to be a decent upgrade, i would go with a garrett gtp38r but then you gotta get all the superduty parts to do it, beans turbo is just a stocker thats ground out with larger wheels in it
