LAST EDITED ON 19-Jun-01 AT 11:48 AM (EST)[p]i just got a 93 f-150 flareside. it has 32" tires on it with a 4" suspension. i want to put another 3" body and 35" tires. what do i have to do to ensure that brake lines and steering columns will be long enough...and if not where do i go to get extensions? also are there other means of lifting a truck besides the body lift and suspension. ive read through some of these discusions and the word coil keeps coming up. i am new to all this custon work and dont know much about it. the bottom line is i want to keep my options open and know all the possibilities of doing these conversions and i want to learn how to do them.
thanks
adrian

LAST EDITED ON 19-Jun-01 AT 04:19 PM (EST)[p]Most body lifts come with a steering shaft extension, so that solves that part of it. As for brake lines, if your stock ones won't work you'll have to get some custom bent. You should only need the lines from the master cylinder to the chassis, so it shouldn't be to expensive.

The coils are your front springs. Depending on the lift kit you got, you might just be able to swap out the coil springs and move the Traction beam (front axle) mounts down a hole. Check the brackets that attach the front beams to the frame. If there's 2 holes there then the upper one is for the 4" lift and the lower one is for the 6" lift. If you can do this, all you'll need to do is buy the 6" lift coils ($120 average), different rear blocks ($50 average), and longer shocks all around ($35/ea.). It's a bit more costly than a body lift, but there aren't any hidden suprized during installation either.
