no forward or reverse

2005 explorer no forward or reverse. Dosn't show any codes key on engine on but will not complete a key on engine off test and no codes in memory.

fluid level?

with engine off check fluid level, then start engine and compare, if its the same then the pump has failed.

Thanks for your coments. Ya no dip stick need to check from the plug in the pan I have not done that yet to see if the fluid is burnt. The explorer drove fine before this happened, drove it into the garage one day no slips, leaks or noise and the next day no forward or reverse. Anymore ideas?

Does the shifter seem to operate normally? Sounds like maybe a linkage problem. Not sure how the linkage works on that vehicle. Is it a mechanical linkage? Have you looked underneath yet? Merry Christmas
