I'm looking at a 1995 Explorer XLT as an off road toy. 4.0L v6. I'll lift in a few inches, put an e-locker or the like in the rear end, LS up font maybe, and some engine work. I'm assuming that it has a 3.73 LS rear end. Couple of questions. What tranny is in those things? What will they bolt up to? And how will it do with a little bigger engine? Any one ever beefed one of these up before? how do they do?
I'm looking for good power in the mud, pretty much dedicated trail vehicle. Hilly trails of eastern PA.
i think the 95 is the first bader year for explorers...that is the year they went to the A arm suspention right, and full time 4wd?
if you are going to get one get a first generation one. you can take the bad trans out (they all had bad ones) and put in a c4 trans..... also can put in a Early Bronco front suspention to get a solid axle up front. the TTB isnt the best and is big $ to lift over 2 or 3 inch.....
