Hello all. I keep peeping around the engine on the truck and a bunch of people at work all point to intake manifold gaskets.
It must be seeping around and leaking outside because the oil is fine, no smoke on start-up and it keeps dribbling a little near the upper back of the passenger side head. The freeze plugs are fine.
OK. I am getting a Fel-Pro set and a Chilton book. Are there any surprises I need to know before I do this? I will be replacing all vacuum lines I see as well as the PCV. The more I look at it, it should not be that hard.
Any advice would be a help.
As before; 99 F-150, 4.2L, auto, 155K miles.
Thanks for any responses.
It is coolant. Not leaking much at all but it does drip. I am thankful it is leaking OUTSIDE the cylinders!
If there is any info or links, please give me a shout before I start this project.
hi, christmas over so here goes, follow the chilton manual and it will be fairly easy. removal of the upper manifold is easy just count the bolts so that when its time to lift it off its a matter of breaking the gasket seal.
the lowers are again straight forward but try not to get any rubbish fall in when they are lifted off.
make sure all surfaces are clear of old gasket and are fully clean.
i camara is always helpfull in showing where the vacuum pipes go etc.
the fel-pro gaskets are a good choice and again torque to the setting in the book.
good luck bokker
