Stalling problem on an '89 F150
The problem:
The truck starts and runs fine for 5-10 minutes, idling, pushing snow, doesn't matter. Then after that it acts like it isn't getting fuel and slowly dies. If you try and start it right away, it will sputter and cough and try and start, but won't. However, if you leave it sit for 10-15 minutes, it will fire right back up like normal. There is no check engine light, and I haven't pulled codes yet, because the emissions stuff is all bypassed, so I imagine there will be codes for that.
My first thought was fuel pump, but I don't have a pressure gauge and everything is closed today. Here is what I've check/done so far:
The ground cable for the battery was questionable, so I changed it out thinking it may be an electrical issue- no change
I've been running it on the rear tank because the front tank has a leak in it. So I put some fuel in the front tank to see if it was the low pressure pump in the rear tank, but the problem persisted.
Since I don't have a pressure gauge, I went underneath to check the function of the high pressure pump by ear/touch. The whole time that the truck is running, there is no change in the sound or feel of the pump and it continues to run smoothly until the relay kicks it off after the engine dies.
My thoughts:
I still haven't ruled out a fuel pump problem, but I'm wondering if it isn't something to do with the engine warming up. I'm wondering if there isn't some sort of vacuum or sensor problem that is related to the engine warming up.
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
mR

Have you tried to take the gas cap off to see if it is a venting problem.
Could also be a spark problem. Have you tried a spark tester to check spark once it starts running bad. The spark should be a white/blue color. If it looks like a red/orange color then the spark is weak.
