4x4 problem

I am having a problem with my 4wd not working. I am not getting any lights, noise, nothing. I checked the fuses and they are good. I have power to the solenoids in the relay box on the driver’s side and to the disconnect solenoid on the right side. When you turn the Key on, the 4x4 hi and 4x4 lo lights come on and then go out, with the rest of the indicator lights. I have vac. at the front hubs, but when you turn the 4wd switch to 4x4 hi or 4x4 lo the vac. is still there. I used the 4wd about a week ago at it worked fine. Then yesterday, nothing. Does anyone have any ideas? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Here's a quote from another forum, by another member here with some good advice:

if it works, only a temp fix. you'll need a new shifter motor eventually
Good luck!

Welcome to FTE. This has been a problem with the auto setup on Fords for as long as I can remember. I am SO glad I got manual lock outs and a stick when I moved from my F150 to 350.

I am thinking of doing the same thing, moving up to the F250. Cant beat the pricing now.
