Does anyone out there know what the stock tire size was for my 68 F100 2WD? I want to give it a little more of a hotrod look and am planning to put 15" x 10" rims on it with some 285 or wider BFG Sport Truck T/A's I need to know the stock tire size to calculate the correct sidewall height so that I can avoid having to mess with new gears for the speedo. Also does anyone know how wide I can go without rubbing problems. I would like to get as deep of a rim as possible( to add to the "hotrod" look) but would also like to avoid rubbing in the back and having the tires protrude past the fenders in the front. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks

 

 

Not the OE size, but I recall that we ran JR78-15 tires on our '68 F-100 that had the 360 V8 and an 8-ft bed with a day cab (single bench seat), "Ranger" trim upgrades (and much more).

Later, we had a service truck (day cab pickup, 8ft bed, tool box, custom in-bed fuel tank & electric dispensing pump, etc) that needed tires badly; I let my dad have the tires I'd intended for my 71 Mach-1: BFG Radial T/A, 255/70R-15 rear and 235/60R-15 front. The truck looked and handled GREAT with that combo.
