Pulled codes trying to figure out my hard shift problem and came up with:
654 Transmission selector not in PARK 622 Solenoid/circuit failure - shift solenoid 2
Truck is a 1994 f150 4x4 5.8/E4OD
The truck was in park at the time, I've read that there is an electronic sensor for the gear position which I'm assuming now is shot and could that also be causing my starter problems?
What or where is the shift solenoid though? dont even know where to start with that one.
Your code 654 may be the MLP sensor, AKA neutral safety switch, on the side of the trans. Check the wiring and plug for a loose connection and adjust the MLPS to spec. The solenoid should be on the side of the valve body inside the trans pan. The solenoids are where the wiring goes into the side of the trans, so give them the wiggle test as well as they rarely go bad. Check this link for more info, E4OD, 4R100 Transmission from PATC, E4OD, 4R100
Thanks I'll have to pick up a manual, I'll need it I'm sure. But if the neutral safety switch was broken or maladjusted wouldn't the starter not work at all?
