I had a good opportunity today to check my mileage while towing. Had a 16' trailer that weighs about 3500 lbs, plus one small cow inside. Towed for about 150 miles and averaged 11.5 mpg.
I have a job # 3 F350 DRW CC, 172" WB with a 4.30 RE. I pull a 30 ft gooseneck trailer loaded down weighing approx 14,000lbs and get up to 9.5 if I stay at 65mph.
If I pull the same load at 75mph my mileage goes down to 7 and change.
My mileage has improved slightly since I have owned the truck but I was very careful during the initial break-in period to make sure I did everything correctly and I am sure that helped.
I am almost 30,000. 40 ft toy hauler with two harleys. At 72-75 I get 6.5 and seven when I get to Fl. Love my truck and my seventh dually. Thinking about a Spartan tuner.........-20 wind chill here in Akron, Ohio. Leaving for Fl. Feb 5th...can't wait..lol
Anywhere from 9 to 11MPG depending on the conditions pulling around 13K of 5th wheel. We do keep it at 60/62 mph. We have 16,800 on the truck. Averaged 10.1 from Northern Ohio to Central Florida in October. The 07 Dodge behind us pulled the same camper from Kansas, City and the guy three spots down pulled a similar camper from NY State with a 07 Chevy. We all got 10. something. We are satisfied.
My rental has 24k on it. NOT towing, cruising at highway I can get 15mpg. City I get 13. Towing my empty 4500lbs gooseneck I can get 13mpg under 65, 11mpg at 75mph. Loaded up to 10k I get 11 at 60-65, 9 at 70.
How many miles on the truck Softballdad?? Just curious because I have the same truck with 4500 on it but I have a 4.3 rear end. Thanks in advance for the info.
