I have a 75 F-250 that is soon going to get a built 300, with cam, intake, over size valves, higher compression, 4v autolite 4100 carb, with HEI distributor, and of course headers.
AND, I need a 2 1/4" header back dual exhaust kit with rear axle exit, to put on it. I found one on Summit Racing's site, then they yanked it off. Now I can't find one anywhere.
Products like that are just about non-existent for our engines and trucks. Best figure on fabricating something yourself or having a muffler shop do it.
It sounds like your engine is pretty much the same as what I'm building, with a few tweeks here and there. How do you like it? How is the Offy DP manifold?
Is there plenty of power? when towing as well? I'm dying to know. What type of tranny do you have? How's the milage?
I am completely satisfied with the way mine turned out. Haven't done any towing in years and the best I can tell you is second hand from my son-in-law. He picked up a heavy load of llama manure for the garden this summer...said the front wheels were nearly off the ground but other than that it pulled just fine. Last mpg check was about a 2 weeks ago. 16.5 on exclusively cold starts and short trips around town with no more than about one hour of total freeway driving thrown in. On one tank last year I had a 19.5 mpg with about 80 miles in town and the balance straight freeway. 4-speed Granny tranny 3.08 rear. The Offy DP works fine but I only have the stock configuration to compare to. The Offy C is a bit more flexible as far as carb choice and mounting orientation.
The DP has a 4-hole carb mount base with an east/west orientation...primaries facing the engine...at least that is the intent...and is for 4v carbs only. The C is an open, single plane type manifold where one has the option of orienting the carb north/south rather than east/west and also the op[tion of using a 2v/4v adapter and running a 2v carb.
fmc400 posted some pics on how he fabricated a bracket to use the stock cable throttle linkage on an Edelbrock carb...the same has been done by others with a Holley pulling from the bottom of the carb linkage toward the engine. I used a 4' Lokar cable and Spectre bracket so I could pull from the top of the linkage away from the engine. The difference is only a matter of preference as the opening ratio of the throttle plates is a bit faster pulling from the bottom rather than the top.
I was quoted $300 by a local shop to do dual 2" from the heddder to the tail(under the bumper) with mufflers. Not likely to ever see an aftermarket bolt in kit for a 300.
The Offy C has an open plenum, and you can adapt a 2V carb, run a Holley, Edelbrock, or Carter 4V, or even run an adapter to mount them sideways. The Dual Port only lets you run a small Holley 4V.
One can run any standard pattern 4v on the DP. With an adapter I run a spread bore 4360 model Economaster and could run a QJ, TQ, or Holley 4165/4175. Without the adapter I have run a 4160/1848 465 cfm. I have a 4160/1850 600 cfm that will bolt right up. Some have used BG Demons. Carter AFB/Edelbrock types...no problem. I originally was wanting an AFB 9400 series 400 cfm but they are a bit rare and spendy when found so I went with the cheap, plentiful Holley's.
I was also considering going dual out from the Cat back but my muffler shop said the only difference in performance would be in the emptying of my wallet in to theirs so I went 2 1/2 single all the way through and out since I really didn't want to pay for more "bragging rights" although I really prefer the duals for looks and sound...might even do that someday anyway.
Try fmc400's profile to see if he posted the pics in his gallery. Otherwise do a search on his postings and see if you come up with it. He might chime in here and help a bit too.
Someone else had pics and drawings of a bracket they had fabbed but I don't recall who and it has been some time ago. I have an excellent memory...it's just short.
