45hrs In Emerg.

Had a scare of Wed. Night.
I was out at Dalmeny fixing the heater in a friends garage. Thats my trucks heat. Got the heat back on the 85. Afterwards helped him unload a bunch of Oak he bought. He makes Kitchens cupboards. While unloading I got very severe chest pains. I did not say anything. Finished unloading. Got in my truck and for about 10 minutes I felt like I could not breathe yet I was was. The pain was not subsiding. After 10 minutes it finally did, but my chest was tight all evening when we ate supper. I went home and it still was bothering me. I did not even tell my wife. I just took some aspirin. Well next morning the chest still had pressure. So I got my wife to take me in. By now I thought I had a small heart attack. Well after all the tests. I did not have a heart attack. So I had to have more tests. I showed signs of Angina. So I had to stay for more tests. Stayed overnight and most of the day today. Finally got me on a stress test and my chest acted up, but my heart was doing good and they were able to find the problem. I have a form of gas when I exert myself that pushes up and pressure on my esaphagus. This gas mimics the pains just like a heart attack. So now I have to take meds for the rest of my life.
I know I should of known better being I work in a hospital and the years being a first responder. I had these pains off and on for the last 2 years. But Wed was bad. I just kept putting it off. It was stupid of me.

So guys if you read this. Do not do what I did andignore it. While I was there a 34 year old came in also with chest pains. He did not walk out.
So when the signs are there get checked. I know being there for 45hours was no real joy. But at least now I know what is wrong with me and I can deal with it.

Glen you dumb@ss! I cant believe ya didnt tell anyone. Im super glad to hear your ok, but ya need a smack for not mentioning that you had pains!

You can NEVER be too careful when it comes to that stuff man.

Again Im glad your ok.

My grandmother has that angina, and its actually very easy for her to deal with, although she does have to take it easy.

I deserved this. My wife wanted them to leave all the sticky tags on me. So she can rip them off me when we got home. I found some alcohol swabs and got them off. Man those chest hairs hurt being pulled off.

What they found was gases from my stomach under exertion comes up in the esphogus and does not escape as a burp. It stays in the esaphogus causing it to convulse causing the chest pain. It does then strain the heart because you are not getting enough oxygen. But my heart checked OK.
So my esaphgus has convulsions caused from the gases. You just don't feel like your breathing, but you are, but the gases prevents the air to get to your lungs. You still get some air, limited amounts. So there is medications for this. I now have to take Rinitdine to help. For the rest of my life. To me small price for life.
Dave if you suspect it is happening to you. Make an appointment with your doctor and start the proceedure to be tested. That means ECG tests and blood, but a stress test really shows the results. If not treated it will cause problems and unnessary strain on the heart that can damage the heart or a heart attack.
The condition is called Esaphogeal Contractions.
