Piaa finally came out with bulbs, so I am going to start gathering the rest of my parts to do the conversion. I have the lamps though and I am going to pull my HL out so I can get a good look at the job. The way the install looks online is two bolts in the bottom and two bolts up top. With it bolted in, how is the beam adjusted for height?
I am getting things together and trying to figure out how to afford to do it the way I want. The install will be mostly straight forward, but I want to build a relay harness for it. I have to get a part for my soldering iron and pick up piaa bulbs, a pair of relays, some good wire and the pigtails. I've found everything I need from several places, but I don't want to pay multiple shippings. I've had the lamps for a couple years now, but I've been waiting for Piaa to come out bulbs.
Not really, I already have the expensive part. The hard part is I have been out of work since January and funds are getting tight.
I figure $65-80 for the bulbs, $50 for the harnesses and relays. The wire I haven't got a figure for, but I need three spools, about 20' of each color for this project and another 20' for another. So I need to have around $200 I will not miss too badly.
It says PN 15422250 from delphi is the connector for H13. Mouser shows them and it looks right, and the connectors is only $1.75each. Of course, you need pins and seals for them too. I am getting closer.
Pin pn 12191819 works on 0.75-1mm2 cable or up to 2.25mm2. This being the larger I suspect it will work fairly well with 16ga wire. Plus they are $0.20 each. PN 15366060 is the seal. I figure I will get 9 of each, so I can screw up once and still get the job done.
So far two connectors and enough parts to out fit 3 is costing $6.11. I am hunting relays and wire now. If it all goes this cheap, I'll go ahead and order it and hopefully do the install shortly after christmas.
I bought $20 worth of parts, all I need now is the wire and Piaa bulbs. I have some, but I want to find some smallish spools of more flexible wire in softer shielding. I may go ahead and the conversion and wait a little while for the bulbs. I am getting excited.
