Exhaust (Cat) ?

My question is, I am wanting to take off my cat to run duals w/ tips. I notice that my cat has 2 pipes that come off the top of the cat and go back up to the engine. Does anyone know what these are for, can I just dissconnect them and get rid of them? Thanks for the help.

Those 2 pipes on top of the cat are for pollution. I cut those off of my cat and got rid of the cat completely. Put a flange and a 3" inlet glasspack that went to dual 2.5" outlet and put some pipes on the end of it. I gained 2-2.5 mpg out of it and it is still running fine.

thanks for the reply. Did you completely pull the pipes off the truck and where they went back up to the engine?

You can just take the hoses off of the air pump, or take the pump/hoses completely off if you have V-belts. You will have to somehow plug the exhaust crossover pipe on the back of the head if you yank all of your air injection system. Yank it all, yank some of it, yank whatever. Just smile at the squirrels you are killing one tank of gas at a time

I left them hanging above my new exhaust. If i take it all off i will do it in the spring/summer when it isn't in the minus 30-50 degree C zone.
