Help,
Have a 2000 F250 with the V10. I went out to crank it this morning and it lit off for about 1 sec then died. It will turn over but not start. The vehicle has 138000 miles and not real interested in getting the dealer involved if I don't have to. Can someone get me going in the right direction. Thanx,
It's either the IAC, or sadly it sounds like the fuel pump. There was enough residual pressure to feed the engine for a split second, but once it ran out of pressure, it died.
Try what the other guys said, push the pedal down an inch or so and see if it lights off.
If it does not, whack the fuel tank with a 2x4 a few times (not TOO hard) and see if the fuel pump will start.
If you don't get anywhere with that, check if you're getting fuel pressure.
After that, pull a COP, put a plug on it, ground the plug and see if you get spark while cranking.
