1979 ford 4x4

Hey, I was wondering if any one knew what size motors were offered in 1979 ford 4x4's in 1979? Also how difficult is it to find bed sides? The reason why I'm asking is I'm looking at A 79 4x4, they did not know the specific model, however it looks to be a F150 it is $250.00 and the motor shows good compression in all eight cylinders no more than 2 psi difference in all of the cylinders, but this thing has been in Minnesota for almost thirty years, so it has the usual rust issues.

1977/79

The 300 I-6 was standard equipment, the 351M & 400 were optional.

The 4th digit of the VIN is the engine code.

B = 300 / H = 351M 2V / S = 400 2V.

the engine is probably a 351m or a 400,I beleive that is the two common V8's offered in the trucks,I would say that the price of $250 is pretty good even if you have to spend some money to bring it back to life.there are lots of great guys here on fte that can steer you in the right direction to finding a box and any other parts you need.
