So for the last year my blower fan has been ridiculously loud. It worked fine so i figured leave it. Well over the last few weeks it started randomly emitting a burning smell, and tonight well blasting some heat while hanging in the car it started to smell like a horrible burn, then the blower just slowly stopped blowing.
I have read some of the posts regarding this but want to know parts etc I should go and buy to just replace it.
Im guessing blower and resistor block. Blower motor as well?
Any help would be great. I dont wanna go to the stelaership cause their a giant ripoff.
Had you looked after the problem when it first exhibited poor behavior you might have saved yourself some $$$ and trouble. Ok, done with the chastising.
First pull the blower motor and cage, clean out the housing (leaves and crud, sometimes mice) and test fan.
if fan test OK, clean and lubricate.
if fan fails, look for replacement.
next remove the resister block, it has a thermo link on it which is cooled by the air flow, (no airflow, link heats up and POP!)
Choice is: test and replace thermo link (repaired many), or get replacement.
