block heater ???

First off the truck is a new to me 99 f250sd 7.3L 140,000 miles.
While shopping at farm and fleet today i found 3 different heaters that should fit. the first goes in the lower radiator hose. Second is 2 units that go in freeze plug holes that I assume are impossible to get at. And last a 4"x5"adhesive element to stick on the oil pan.

My questions:
Are any of these any good?
IF so what to use and why?
Is a better product i should get?

The truck does not fit in my garage so something simple to install is preferred as I need to do the work outside or at the motorcycle shop in one night.

Thanks for any advice.

First, Welcome to FTE man, world of knowledge here.

Are you absolutely positive you don't already have one? Look from under the truck by the oil filter. If there is an orange cord going into the block you already have one. I am sure someone can post a pic here shortly. I had to dig behing the bumper a little to find mine when I went looking. It was wrapped up back in there pretty good.

Welcome to FTE, like Mike said, you should have a factory block heater on the truck already - unless the PO took it off for some reason. Crawl under the driver's side of the truck and locate the oil filter. there should be a red wire up next to the block that travels to the front. Locate the end of the wire by the front driver's side tow hook. (it may be zip tied to the frame) It will have a 3 prong household male electrical end. It's black so it may be hard to see.

On edit: check out post #5 of this thread to see the oil filter and red wire of the OEM heater.

It's not always an orange cord, mine is black. It's inside the tow hook hole in the bumper on the driver side. David

I was referring to the cord connection at the heater itself, right next to the Oil filter. I can see how that would have been confusing. Orange; Red Going off of memory here. Mine is black as well at the tow hook. Post 5 in the previous link says it all
