CB Wiring.

So I was thinking of wiring in a CB in my truck.

From what I read I just need a 12 volt running from my fuse panel and a ground?

Is this correct?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Just making sure before I put mine in. My truck already had one.. (at one time..) so there's already some wires run for it. Just making sure that was all I needed.

Just go buy a fuse tap at the parts store and slip that under a fuse that is hot when the key is on. Run that over and hook it to the radio power.

Run the antenna as you like. Some people do not like cutting holes for it in the truck, some people don't care. The best place for the antenna is right smack in the middle of the roof of the cab.

If you have a lot of noise, you will need to run a wire from the battery to the radio. There is a lot of noise in the fuse panel and your radio could reproduce it as static. Same goes for the ground. There are two ground spots to be concerned with, the one for the radio and the one under the antenna, a ground potential can lead to noise as well. Run the Coax as far from other power wires as possible, particularly anything with AC or high voltage. Use an 18 or 21' run of coax, it works better in 3' increments for some reason and 18' is thought to be a great length (almost 1/2 wave.)
